On Christmas Eve, the Seattle Seahawks (8-6) and Dallas Cowboys (8-6) will face off in what is essentially a playoff elimination game. The winner still needs help to make the postseason, but what is assured is that the loser will be mathematically eliminated from contention.
Seattle is coming off a 42-7 thumping at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams. They’ve never lost three straight in the Russell Wilson era, and if it does happen in 2017, it’ll end their season. The Cowboys have won three straight, including a dramatic win over the Oakland Raiders after Derek Carr fumbled the game-winning touchdown over the goal line and out of the end zone. Had Dallas lost, they would’ve already been eliminated.
The Seahawks will get K.J. Wright back after he missed last week’s blowout due to a concussion. Bobby Wagner is no longer listed on the injury report, so hopefully his hamstring feels better. DB Deshawn Shead will make his season debut after tearing his ACL at the end of last season, so that should at least be a boost on special teams. As for Dallas, while left tackle Tyron Smith (knee) figures to not by 100% and may not even play, the Cowboys do get star running back Ezekiel Elliott back from his six-game suspension. That will be of great help to Dak Prescott, although the health issues for Smith hugely benefit the Seahawks defense.
