Seahawks take offensive tackle Cam Robinson in consensus mock draft

In my first consensus mock draft of the 2017 NFL Draft season, the Seattle Seahawks take Cam Robinson, offensive tackle from the University of Alabama, with the 26th selection. This mock draft was created using the average selection of 48 other mock drafts with the highest available player being selected.

While the Seahawks signed Luke Joeckel, free agent from the Jacksonville Jaguars, to a one-year $8 million contract, the Seahawks still have a big need at their other tackle position. On the left side of the line of scrimmage, George Fant was terrorized all season, while neither Garry Gilliam nor Bradley Sowell proved that they deserved to start at right tackle. In my opinion, Cam Robinson will be a huge improvement at the right tackle position and if Tom Cable can improve Joeckel’s technique, they will have a much improved offensive line.

Their are rumors that Seattle is desperately trying to sign Green Bay Packers’ T.J. Lang, but he will be very expensive. Earlier this week, there was a report that the Seahawks would have to cut multiple “core” players in order to make this deal happen. While that report is definitely false, with Seattle having roughly $10 million in cap space available, they will definitely be cap-constrained after signing him to likely to a $9 million per year contract.
