Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested in Dallas on Monday morning after a car crashed into a bar and injured five people. Boykin was not the driver of the vehicle, but he has been booked on marijuana possession and public intoxication charges. Fox 4 Dallas has additional details, including confirmation that:
Boykin was a passenger in the car that hit Sidebar Bar around 2 a.m. Monday. Police suspect the woman in the driver’s seat, 26-year-old Shabrika Baley, was drunk when she pulled out of a parking garage and suddenly backed into the front of the building.
Four people on the crowded sidewalk were hit by the car and a bartender inside the club was injured as the car pushed through the front wall. Three of them were taken to the hospital with injuries like a broken ankle and a dislocated arm. None have life-threatening injuries.
Police plan to notify the NFL of his arrest.
Both of Boykin’s charges are misdemeanors.
This is the second time in less than two years that Boykin has found himself in trouble with the law. The ex-TCU star was suspended for the 2016 Alamo Bowl after assaulting a police officer at a bar in San Antonio on New Year’s Eve. Boykin reached a plea deal to reduce what would’ve been a third-degree felony to a resisting arrest misdemeanor charge. He was sentenced to one-year probation, fined $1,500, and attended anger management and alcohol awareness programs.
Boykin is currently being held at the Dallas County jail.
