NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein posted a round 2-3 mock draft on Friday morning, giving us some possible amount of things to discuss as far as the prospects who will be available and what the Seattle Seahawks may be looking for. John Schneider has an incredible six picks with which to work, plus an early round four pick, thanks to their deals on Thursday.
Here is what Zierlein mocked for the Hawks:
34. Forrest Lamp, G, Western Kentucky
58. Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M
90. Josh Dobbs, QB, Tennessee
95. John Johnson, S, Boston College
102. Roderick Johnson, T, Florida State
105. Kendell Beckwith, LB, LSU
Lamp is someone who has been discussed a lot and could potentially step in on day one and be the starting right guard. That could position the offensive line to have Luke Joeckel at left tackle, Mark Glowinski at left guard, Justin Britt at center, Lamp at right guard, and Germain Ifedi at right tackle. However, at least Rees Odhiambo, George Fant, and Oday Aboushi figure to compete for spots as well. Picking up Johnson in the late third would obviously add to that competition at right tackle, but he could be a backup/long-term pick.
Hall has the length and athleticism that would intrigue Pete Carroll and John Schneider. Most importantly, he’s an Aggie, which seems to guarantee anyone a roster spot in Seattle.
Dobbs would obviously draw headlines, being that he’s a QB. He has fantastic size, length, and athleticism, but seems to be significantly behind in the passing department. He could be a good project and backup to Russell Wilson.
Johnson also tested really well at the combine and has the length the Seahawks like in their secondary. He could backup the safety positions and potentially work in as a corner, if needed.
Finally, Beckwith is a former top recruit who was very productive and has ideal size and length, but tore his ACL last season. Could be a good value pick and long-term addition, if it went down like this.
As we all know, it certainly won’t, but Zierlein has some intriguing names listed here.
