With the 106th pick in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks have selected wide receiver Amara Darboh out of Michigan. Darboh provides a valuable hedge with Paul Richardson entering a contract year and Tyler Lockett coming off of a season-ending injury.
The second pick of the day out of Michigan, Darboh is a reliable option who is hailed as a solid blocker in the run game. Lockett was the last 3rd rounder the Seahawks drafted at wide receiver and he factored in heavily to the team’s plans during his rookie year. We will have to wait to see how extensive Darboh’s usage will be in 2017, but this looks like a really solid pick for Seattle’s offense.
This is the Seahawks’ final pick of Day 2. They will pick early tomorrow, with pick 111 in the 4th round. Hold onto your hats people. We’re not finished yet.
Highlights:
NFL.com profile:
Good NFL size with above-average arm length. Experience in Michigan's pro-style passing attack. Saw increase in targets and responded with improved production. In 2016, had at least one catch of at least 30 yards in eight of first nine games, outplaying highly regarded teammate Jehu Chesson. Fluid working two-way releases from slot. Smooth transitions in his routes. Won't give away plant-and-go cuts to the post, allowing him to stay ahead of the cornerback. Heady player. Adjusts routes to create better throwing opportunities for quarterbacks. Accepts responsibility as blocker climbing up to cornerbacks with some urgency of engagement. Able to sustain his block when run play flows his way. Locks up back-side safety blocks.
