The All-Time Seahawk 53, Day 4

Wrapping this unique project up with some of the franchise’s biggest stars

joyous marcus

QB’s? Check.

Ball carriers and ball catchers? Check.

Specialists? Check.

Both lines? Check.

Must be time to finish assembling the all-time 53-man roster, with some of the biggest and dearest names in franchise history. Here comes the Legion, here come the fearsome ‘backers.

Linebackers (5)

The linebackers will be selected in much the same way as other, with one automatic qualifier, plus the top four vote-getters from the poll below.

It looked initially like four Seattle Seahawks deserved instant induction at first — the four who’ve actually been named to the All-Pro first team. Bobby Wagner (twice), Lofa Tatupu, Chad Brown and Fredd Young. But then what are you even voting for anymore? One final entrant? At that point I’m making the selections for you. Besides, isn’t Rufus Porter or Julian Peterson or even K.J. Wright just as deserving of a free pass? Maybe? Or someone else entirely?

And if we divide into two eras again, Chad Brown (peak years 1997-2000) doesn’t fit in either poll. Unless he goes with the newer crowd, and then the choices are again practically made for you: probably Tatupu and Brown from recently; probably Porter and Young from the earlier times.

It’s too much manipulation that way. Instead, you gotta let the wisdom of crowds decide. Only Bobby gets free admission to the all-time 53. The poll’s top four all advance. Good luck making up your mind.

Results will be announced next week, after the final round of tie-breaking or roster-tweaking polls to determine the 52nd and 53rd players. If you haven’t voted in one of the existing posts yet, the links are below.

Vote for QB/RB/FB on Day 1

Vote for OL/DL/TE on Day 2

Vote for specialists and WR on Day 3

You’re in Day 4 already. Do your job.

(Ed. note: K.J. Wright and John Harris were both added to the polls in the morning after a dumb oversight left them off. They could still be included in the final 53 via the tie-breaker round on Monday, so give them some strategic voting love. Sorry.)
