With the Seattle Seahawks’ 2017 NFL preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers literally less than an hour from this article’s publish, we have a list of notable players who won’t (or most likely won’t) be seeing any game action tonight.
Doug Baldwin
Tyler Lockett
Luke Willson
Amara Darboh
Jeremy Lane
Marcus Smith
Quinton Jefferson
DJ Alexander
Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta has the details:
List of Seahawks not expected to play includes Amara Darboh, who was hurt in practice Wednesday. Not sure the nature, severity....

Sorry, Darboh injury was Friday. But that explains re-signing Jamel Johnson as Seattle a little light on WR with Baldwin, Lockett also out.

Also not expected to play is DL Quinton Jefferson. Rest of list is guys who were already announced as out or on PUP/NFI, etc.

Jefferson could well just be easing him back, as they are doing with Lockett. He has been practicing more and more of late.

With Baldwin, Darboh, and Lockett all not playing, week 1 will provide the likes of J.D. McKissic, Kasen Williams, Tanner McEvoy, and Kenny Lawler more opportunities to prove they belong on the final 53-man roster.
Jefferson being out is a tad disappointing, especially at a time when we need to know who can step up in Malik McDowell’s indefinite absence. Hopefully, as Condotta wrote, it has to do with easing him back into things after he missed most of last season with a knee injury, and not an indication of something to be more concerned about.
Seahawks at Chargers kicks off at 5 PM PT. You can catch the game on either KCPQ-13 FOX or on NFL Network.
