Disaster has struck for the Seattle Seahawks offensive line.
Just about midway through the 2nd quarter of Seattle’s preseason home opener against the Minnesota Vikings, starting left tackle George Fant had his right leg rolled into by Justin Britt, who was helping out Luke Joeckel by delivering an extra block. Fant went down in immense pain and immediately grabbed his knee. It’s just a terrible case of friendly fire and sadly that’s not the first time this has happened to the Seahawks o-line.
With his teammates surrounding him, a visibly upset Fant was carted off the field, an air cast on his injured leg, and Rees Odhiambo replaced him at LT. Joeckel remained at left guard for the next play, and for the ensuing series.
We can only hope for the best, but you can’t help but fear the worst for Fant. As if that wasn’t enough, on the same play, TE Marcus Lucas injured his ankle after making a reception, and he’s out for the game.
