After today’s practice at the VMAC, both Pete Carroll and rookie wide receiver Amara Darboh took the podium to talk about the day of practice. Here are my notes from both pressers. Note: These are my notes and not direct quotes from the two.
Pete Carroll
- The right tackle spot is very competitive. Everything is competitive. Germain Ifedi looks good. Ethan Pocic gives us options in other places on the line.
- Amara Darboh is learning both positions of X (split end) receiver and Z (flanker) receiver
- Jermaine Kearse has been on this training camp. Very reliable for Russell Wilson.
- J.D. McKissic plays at both WR and RB. One of the highest intensity players out there at all times.
- Quinton Jefferson will play at 5-tech, but we will also try him at 3-tech as well.
Amara Darboh
- A lot of the concepts and routes are very similar between Seahawks and Michigan. Both pro style concepts.
- He was mainly an X at Michigan. They have me at both equally right now.
- Funny moment happened before Darboh started speaking. Michael Bennett yelled at him from outside the press area, “Why are rookies up there? Y'all should be asking me those questions!”
Earlier this offseason, I broke down Amara Darboh’s skill-set for FieldGulls. Here is the video in case you haven’t seen it yet:
