Teams must turn in their final 53-man rosters by 1 PM PST on Saturday, meaning a bunch of Seattle Seahawks are going to get very bad news (that they’re actually not Seahawks) and some will get some life-changing news. This post will update readers from Friday night to the deadline about when that news or rumors of said news breaks.
Pete Carroll typically keeps things very close to the vest until the deadline however, and some news won’t even come out until after most every other team has announced their final 53s. The Seahawks have already made trades for Sheldon Richardson and Justin Coleman, while shipping off Jermaine Kearse and Tramaine Brock.
Other major points of interest will be who the backup quarterback is (Trevone Boykin was the backup last season but played poorly often in the preseason while Austin Davis looked okay and Colin Kaepernick remains a free agent), which receivers don’t make the cut, what the cornerback situation looks like, and what other trades could be coming down the pike.
As of 5:30ish PM Friday (over four hours past when they told the league) the Seahawks announced their moves.
