Naz Jones intercepts Aaron Rodgers, TD wiped out by ticky-tack penalty, Jeremy Lane ejected

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to the NFL, Aaron Rodgers. That is, “Welcome to Naz Jones’ NFL.”

Playing in the first defensive drive of his career, against arguably the best QB in the NFL in his own home, Jones intercepted Aaron Rodgers and returned it 64 yards for a touchdown.

Unfortunately, the touchdown was called back on a penalty from Cliff Avril for block in the back on Rodgers; the touching of Rodgers’ back was minimal and didn’t seem to affect anything, but so be it. Cornerback Jeremy Lane also got a flag on the play. He got into a tussle with Packers receiver Davante Adams and was ejected for throwing a punch, but video replay didn’t show any punch immediately afterwards. Lane being out means that Shaquill Griffin and Neiko Thorpe will have to step up, at least.

The Seahawks started the drive at the 50 instead of getting a touchdown, and went three-and-out. It’s a major missed opportunity for a team that hasn’t won in Lambeau since 1999.

While all eyes were on how Sheldon Richardson do in his Seahawks debut, Jones ends up making the first huge play of the season for Seattle.
