Tom Cable did not stay unemployed for long

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

For those who thought that former Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable might have a difficult time finding work after the performance of his lines in Seattle the last few years, the Oakland Raiders have decided to hire Cable as their offensive line coach.

This will make Cable the offensive line coach for Jon Gruden, who recently returned to Oakland amid much fanfare, and returns Cable to where he was prior to joining the Seahawks staff.

Also of note is that it could reunite Cable with Marshawn Lynch, with whom he is said to have a strong relationship following the time they spent working together in Seattle. Part of the hiring may be an attempt by Gruden to convince Lynch to play another season for his hometown team. In addition, it will be interesting to see if Cable somehow manages to take the talent that Oakland has and keep Derek Carr healthy. In the past two seasons Carr has suffered a broken leg and a broken bone in his spine (transverse process) while playing behind one of the most expensive offensive lines in the NFL.

Or, Cable may get Carr killed. Either way, will make for some interesting watching.
