Seahawks 2018 opponents finalized: Seattle to play at Carolina next season

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

With the 2017 NFL regular season in the books, every team now knows which set of opponents they’ll be facing in 2018. For the Seattle Seahawks, their final confirmed opponent was dependent on which team would finish as runners-up in the NFC South, and that turned out to be the Carolina Panthers. This means that Seattle will play at Carolina for the first time since the Panthers eliminated them from the playoffs back in January 2016, and their first regular season trip to Carolina since 2014.

Here’s what’s on tap for next season:

Home Games

Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco 49ers
Kansas City Chiefs
Los Angeles Chargers
Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay Packers
Dallas Cowboys

Away Games

Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco 49ers
Denver Broncos
Oakland Raiders
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Carolina Panthers

Of course, you shouldn’t expect 100% of these teams to be as good or bad as they were in 2017, so don’t get too hung up on forecasting wins and losses when this season’s playoffs haven’t even started yet.

As an aside, the NFL traditionally schedules the Super Bowl winner to host the opening game of the season. The only way the Seahawks will be in consideration to play on opening night is if the Rams (shudders) or Panthers (shudders again) win it all.

The 2018 NFL schedule will most likely be released in April.
