Enemy Reaction 2017: Conference championship weekend

The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles defended their respective home fields and advanced to Super Bowl 52. While the Jacksonville Jaguars squandered a 10-point 4th quarter lead, the Minnesota Vikings ceased playing any form of competent football after going up 7-0. Perhaps they thought Stefon Diggs’ miracle touchdown against the New Orleans Saints gave them a 40-point head start against the Eagles, and if they did, they’re sorely mistaken.

Let’s get to Enemy Reaction for conference championship weekend.

Jacksonville Jaguars (Big Cat Country) at New England Patriots (Pats Pulpit)

Blake Bortles finds a wide open Marcedes Lewis for a touchdown (7-3 JAX)

Leonard Fournette puts the Jags up by double-digits (14-3 JAX)

Rob Gronkowski gets concussed by Barry Church, AJ Bouye gets flagged for pass interference, leading to Patriots touchdown (14-10 JAX)

Myles Jack rips the ball away from Dion Lewis, but the Jaguars don’t capitalize (20-10 JAX)

Patriots convert 3rd and 18 because of course they do (20-10 JAX)

New England cuts into the deficit via Danny Amendola’s touchdown (20-17 JAC)

Danny Amendola gets both feet down for the go-ahead touchdown (24-20 NE)

Stephon Gilmore knocks away Jacksonville’s Super Bowl dreams (24-20 NE)

Dion Lewis seals the deal for the Patriots (24-20 NE FINAL)

Minnesota Vikings (Daily Norseman) at Philadelphia Eagles (Bleeding Green Nation)

Kyle Rudolph gets Minnesota’s first touchdown of the game, final touchdown of the season (7-0 MIN)

Case Keenum throws pick-6 to Patrick Robinson (7-7)

Blount Force Trauma! (14-7 PHI)

Case Keenum strip-sacked by Derek Barnett, Eagles recover (14-7 PHI)

Alshon Jeffery gets wide open for a touchdown (21-7 PHI)

Flea-flicker action ends in touchdown to Torrey Smith (31-7 PHI)

Adam Thielen’s 4th down touchdown is correctly overturned, Eagles take over on downs (31-7 PHI)

Icing on the cake (38-7 PHI FINAL)

...Say what now about the Seahawks?

I don’t know about you guys, but I think the Cowboys actually stole the show here.

As I teased last week, there’s a special Enemy Reaction in the works that is very Seahawks-specific and I’m sure will make for a fascinating retrospect. After that, we have the Super Bowl to close out another year of E.R. on Field Gulls.

Thanks for reading and go ‘Hawks!
