After suffering a groin injury against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6, it was initially expected Marshawn Lynch would miss a month. On Monday, that timeline increased considerably.

Lynch, a Seahawks legend, was placed on injured reserve by the Raiders on Monday, halting what was an excellent comeback season. Through six games, Lynch was rushing for over four yards per carry and had scored three touchdowns, while playing predominately in the first half of games. The bruising runner had dropped weight in the offseason and looked considerably more spry than in his first season in Oakland.

The Raiders are yet to designate anyone for return off the injured reserve in 2018, meaning Lynch could return in eight weeks. Lynch has looked considerably better than Martin, another pending free agent, in 2018. There’s a chance Lynch could return to the Raiders in 2019, should there be interest from both parties. If Lynch has indeed played his final NFL game, going out against Seattle seems fitting. And, more importantly, he gave his fans, in his city, this wonderfully Marshawn moment:
