The L.A. Rams spent the 2018 offseason gearing up for a Super Bowl run, capitalizing on the few years left of Jared Goff’s rookie contract. After a splashy offseason, their one glaring hole was at edge rusher. With less than an hour to go until the NFL trade deadline passed, the Rams have addressed that need.
L.A. traded a 2019 third round pick and a 2020 fifth round pick to the Jaguars in exchange for Dante Fowler Jr.
Fowler was the third overall selection in 2015, however he has under-performed throughout his time in Jacksonville. Though Fowler lost his rookie season due to an injury, upon his return, the Jaguars had filled the role of number-one pass rusher with Yannick Ngakoue. Fowler never reached his ceiling with the Jaguars, though he posted eight sacks in 2017.
After an offseason suspension—and then an in-house suspension—to start 2018, Fowler’s days in Jacksonville seemed numbered. The Jaguars finally found a taker at the deadline, and he will undoubtedly help a stacked Rams defense.
