After being the subject of trade rumors, Oakland Raiders pass rusher Bruce Irvin was not dealt to another team on NFL trade deadline day. However, after a pitiful 34-3 blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, the Raiders have opted to cut Irvin outright anyway.

Since the trade deadline has passed, Bruce Irvin, a vested veteran, will have to pass through waivers. That won't happen until Monday.

Irvin had eight sacks in 2017, tying his career-high from his rookie season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, but in 2018 he has three sacks to date and zero tackles over the past two games. With his production dropping this year and the Raiders clearly all-in on rebuilding the team, Irvin’s future was always a question mark even prior to the start of this season.
Of course, the 31-year-old is familiar with former Raiders DC and current Seahawks DC Ken Norton Jr, seeing as he was the man who developed Irvin while he was linebackers coach in his previous stint in Seattle. If you absolutely want to see Irvin reunite with the Seahawks and provide a potential pass-rushing boost, claiming him off waivers doesn’t seem like the way to go.

the Seahawks have $3,646,992 in acailable cap space.
Bruce Irvin's cap hit for the remainder of 2018 on a waiver claim will be $3,882,352.
