Of the many things that define Richard Sherman’s legacy with the Seattle Seahawks, it’s how much San Francisco 49ers fans despise him. This began in 2012, escalated with “The Tip” in the 2013 NFC Championship Game, and it hasn’t stopped since then. One of the all-time top posts in the 49ers Reddit is literally “I f—king hate Richard Sherman.”

So... how does “Richard Sherman to the 49ers” sound?

Adam Schefter reports that Sherman, who was released by the Seahawks on Friday, is scheduled to meet with San Francisco on Saturday. I know, it hurts to type even though this doesn’t really mean he’s destined to wind up with the Niners.

Josina Anderson later wrote that Sherman told her he’s also received interest from the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. NFL Network then reported that a meeting with the Lions will happen some time next week.

Obviously the 49ers bit is going to be the biggest story, even if no contract materializes. In addition to “The Tip,” He intercepted Colin Kaepernick four times from 2012-2014, including two on Thanksgiving Day 2014 that yielded a midfield turkey feast in San Fran’s brand-new stadium. Sherman also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown in Seattle’s destruction of the Niners on Jim Harbaugh’s birthday back in 2012. The very idea of Sherman going to a division rival is one thing, but those guys? I hope that doesn’t happen.
