Neiko Thorpe may be an alien

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday we took a look at part of the offseason workout regimen for Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Marcus Smith, and one commenter noted that there may be aliens living amongst us. Well, in looking at some of the other offseason workouts of some of the members of the team, that certainly seems more possible.

Cornerback and special teamer Neiko Thorpe, aka Neiko the Thorpedo, has regularly posted pictures of his workouts to his Instagram and Twitter account this offseason, including this one which was posted late Friday.

Now, a professional football player doing bench presses in the offseason is not something that is going to be overly surprising to most fans. However, that bench press post pales in comparison to a video Thorpe posted earlier in the week. This, folks, is simply nuts.

I have watched this video dozens of times, and I am just as stunned every single time I watch it. I don’t know what else to call a feat like that other than mind blowing. That’s simply what it is. Maybe somebody else has a better way to describe it, but I certainly don’t.

Thorpe was not invited to the NFL Combine coming out of Auburn in 2012, but he certainly showed off his athleticism at his pro day when he had the chance. His 38” vertical jump at his pro day was certainly nothing to scoff at, but it was not the most impressive thing he did that day. He posted a 137” (11’5”) broad jump, which had it been done at the Combine would have tied for the sixth longest broad jump at the combine since 2000 by any player at any position.

So, we’ll have to wait until the fall to see if his athleticism translates to more than being a star special teamer in 2018, but at least his gym feats are helping keep us entertained until then.
