Sam’s Film Room: D.J. Moore compares favorably to former Seahawks WR Golden Tate

As I was going through the prospects entering the 2018 NFL Draft, I wanted to spend a little more time looking at D.J. Moore, wide receiver out of the University of Maryland. What I found really interesting by studying his tape is that he looks and plays very similar to former Seahawks’ WR Golden Tate. Both him and Moore are excellent at creating yards after the catch and their skill-sets translate well in becoming good slot receivers in the NFL.

While Tate was drafted by Seattle in the end of the second round, I have a strong feeling that Moore will be picked late in the first round of this year's draft. He has too much potential to pass up even though his route running is very undeveloped.

How this might affect the Seattle Seahawks

Similar to my Calvin Ridley breakdown (here), the Seahawks might be in the market for another wide receiver. In my opinion, Moore should get picked somewhere in the 20’s so if Seattle wants him they could theoretically trade down for him. I actually gave Moore an early second round grade so unless he falls for some reason I feel like he’ll go to another team. Outside of the Seahawks, the Arizona Cardinals could use a receiver like Moore. If they don’t take a quarterback early, they could grab him or Ridley in this year’s draft.
