No more trading down this time for the Seattle Seahawks. After moving from #18 to #27, John Schneider and the Seahawks front office chose San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny, who was not just an outstanding rusher in college, but a beast on special teams, returning eight kicks for touchdowns.
Pete Carroll emphasized that he wanted the Seahawks to have a better run game after the disastrous 2017 season, but I don’t think many expected Seattle to be just the second team to take a running back in the first-round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Seattle’s only other first-round running back draft picks are Curt Warner and Shaun Alexander, both of whom were fantastic players for the Seahawks in their respective primes. One can only hope Penny can be the future of Seattle’s rushing attack.
Here’s how Twitter reacted, and as you might expect, there was a lot of surprise:

I believe this is the first first-round pick in the history of the Seahawks franchise.

I like Rashaad Penny. I don't like him in the first round.

(I guess this is what I've said about every first-round running back the last few years.)
Whoa ... #Seahawks have taken RB Rashaad Penny from San Diego State.

Watched Penny a lot. Was huge in the bowl game for SDSU. Small, but can run THROUGH PPL
