Brought in as depth in the retooled Seattle Seahawks secondary, former San Francisco 49ers CB Dontae Johnson will be sidelined due to injury.
Speaking to media following minicamp practice, head coach Pete Carroll revealed that Johnson suffered a broken bone in his foot ten days ago and will have surgery on it. The timetable is unknown, but Johnson is currently wearing a walking boot. Definitely an unfortunate setback for the 26-year-old, who figured to be in competition for the #2 spot at outside corner.
UPDATE: Look like Johnson already had the surgery, so the headline has been updated to accurately reflect the quote.
Listening back to Carroll's comment and it sounds like Johnson already had the surgery. "He broke a bone in his foot about 10 days ago, so he's in a boot and recovering. Had a little surgery to get that fixed up." https://t.co/b080VuZI7e

Also of note from the presser:
- Defensive end Frank Clark is dealing with a minor hamstring problem. Clark sat out the voluntary OTAs, alongside Byron Maxwell, but both were present at Tuesday’s session, with Clark’s injury limiting his participation.
- Safety Maurice Alexander has a shoulder injury.
- Wide receiver Doug Baldwin will be resting through minicamp, having done everything at OTAs.
- Bradley McDougald took snaps at strong safety, while Tedric Thompson assumed the role of #1 at free safety while Earl Thomas continues his holdout. At OTAs, Delano Hill was getting first-team looks at SS, with McDougald at FS and Thompson also seeing some first-team reps while McDougald had a personal matter to attend to.
- Russell Wilson has been flying helicopters for the past year.
