Oday Aboushi, who spent all of 2017 with the Seattle Seahawks, will now be joining ex-Seahawks assistant Tom Cable down in Oakland.
NFL.com confirmed Aboushi’s signing with the Raiders on Saturday.
The 27-year-old started eight games at right guard for the Seahawks last season, replacing Mark Glowinski at that position after Glowinski was released. Aboushi injured his shoulder in Seattle’s Monday night loss against the Atlanta Falcons, and missed the team’s final six games.
Oakland’s offensive line also includes Breno Giacomini, who was a teammate of Aboushi’s when they were on the New York Jets in 2014. Early reports at Raiders training camp have Giacomini at first-team right tackle.
Aboushi is obviously a depth signing, as Oakland’s pretty set at both guard positions, with Kelechi Osemele on the left side and Gabe Jackson on the right.
The Seahawks play the Raiders in London on October 14th, and Jon Gruden’s side has quite a few ex-Seahawks on the current roster. In addition to Aboushi and Giacomini, Marshawn Lynch is the lead running back, Bruce Irvin is coming off a tie for his career-high in sacks, DT Ahtyba Rubin recently joined the squad as well.
