With the 2018 NFL preseason in the books, the next step for all 32 teams is to trim their respective rosters from 90 to 53 players. For the Seattle Seahawks, it’ll be interesting to see how the depth chart looks at wide receiver, cornerback, defensive line, and even on the lower-rung of the running back ladder. Notable guys on the bubble include WR Amara Darboh, CB Byron Maxwell, DL Poona Ford, and RB Mike Davis.

CB Trovon Reed thanks Seattle, a sign that he’s likely gone.
Thank you Seattle !— Trovon Reed (@TrovonReed) September 1, 2018
A surprise cut has been reported, as veteran safety Maurice Alexander has reportedly been cut.
The Seahawks are releasing safety Maurice Alexander, according to a source. He had a strong case to make the team given his past starting experience and versatility (having played some weak-side linebacker). It's possible the Seahawks bring him back at some point.— Brady Henderson (@BradyHenderson) September 1, 2018
Seattle continues to thin out their crowded wide receiver group, releasing Malik Turner.
#Seahawks have released receiver Malik Turner, I’m told.— Dugar, Michael-Shawn (@MikeDugar) September 1, 2018
Rookie Alex McGough has reportedly been waived, although the Seahawks will surely push to bring him back to the practice squad.
The #Seahawks are waiving rookie QB Alex McGough, source said. Seventh-round pick flashed some athletic ability in the preseason, but they traded for Brett Hundley as No. 2. May be back on practice squad.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 1, 2018
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported cornerback Akeem King has been waived.
The #Seahawks are waiving DB Akeem King, source said. Bit of a surprise after strong preseason.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 1, 2018
It looks like Gerald Holmes has announced he’s been cut, via his Instagram story.
Not that it’s any surprise, but it sounds like Gerald Homes has been cut. pic.twitter.com/mXObNMWbxu— David (@David_Seahawks) September 1, 2018
DJ Alexander appears to be off the roster

Report: Austin Davis and Erik Walden to IR, Ed Dickson to reserve/NFI list
Source: the Seahawks placed TE Ed Dickson on the reserve/NFI list, while also placing QB Austin Davis and LB Erik Walden on IR.— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 1, 2018
Perhaps the biggest news of the day: Dion Jordan has been activated off the PUP list.
The #Seahawks are taking pass-rusher Dion Jordan off the PUP list and he’ll be active, source said. He was dealing with a leg injury but doing well.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 1, 2018
In a bit of a surprise, Joey Hunt has reportedly made Seattle’s 53-man roster to begin the season.
League source tells me Joey Hunt makes #Seahawks as backup center, as expected. Hunt also played guard and tackle in preseason finale. Pete Carroll praised him unsolicited after Thursday’s game.— Gregg Bell (@gbellseattle) September 1, 2018
Seahawks trade WR Marcus Johnson to the Colts in exchange for TE Darrell Daniels.
Raiders trade S Shalom Luani to Seahawks
Raiders have traded S Shalom Luani to the Seahawks, source said. Reunited with former Raiders def. coordinator Ken Norton Jr.— Michael Gehlken (@GehlkenNFL) September 1, 2018
Byron Maxwell to be placed on IR, ending his season
Seahawks are putting Byron Maxwell on IR, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 1, 2018
Ed Dickson hinted he may be coming off the NFI list in time for Week 1.

Earl Thomas trade talks? Well they’re not going very far.
The #Cowboys remain a trade option for Earl Thomas. But my understanding is multiple other teams have reached out recently about acquiring the star safety. No one has met #Seahawks’ asking price yet and they’re not in any hurry. @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/xK7RGBujqC— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 31, 2018
