The 1st half is in the books for the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts in their respective 2018 NFL preseason openers. Indianapolis is nursing a 9-7 lead at halftime, and the first-team players on offense and defense are pretty much done for the night.
Russell Wilson only had one series, and it was a good one, as he went 12 plays, 75 yards, and capped it off with a scramble drill touchdown to TE Nick Vannett. Rookie running back Rashaad Penny contributed on that scoring play by blocking the oncoming pass rusher. Chris Carson has also looked great in his return from injury, with 26 yards on 4 carries.
On defense, it’s been a little bit up-and-down. They’ve prevented big plays but have had some issues in run support and covering running backs in the passing game, but there have been bright spots. Shaquem Griffin made four tackles in his first NFL defensive series, Shaquill recorded a pass defensed on Andrew Luck on the game’s opening drive, Justin Coleman nearly had an interception, and Barkevious Mingo and Rasheem Green each recorded sacks.

Pass break-up by Shaquill Griffin. Looks like Cover 3. Good play by the sideline. #Seahawkspic.twitter.com/Gt4WRDwvvh

TEXTBOOK coverage by Justin Coleman. Dude is seriously one of the best slot cornerbacks in the NFL. He drives to Hilton's inside shoulder and swats away the pass. The #Colts were lucky that Coleman didn't pick this. #Seahawkspic.twitter.com/kbCauXB5hc

Another angle of the touchdown to Nick Vannett. Shows you what Russell Wilson saw on the play as he escaped to his right.

Nobody was open, so Wilson created more time and space for his tight end to get open. #Seahawkspic.twitter.com/Ew7qZ0sOpv
Great play by David Moore. Had position on the defensive back and then turned and high pointed the ball for the big gain. #Seahawkspic.twitter.com/ievWQW9mOR

Haven't really talked about the running backs yet, but I'm really liking what I see from Chris Carson.

The #Seahawks run "Duo" and Carson has the speed to break the first arm tackle and then spins out of the second for the first down.pic.twitter.com/UBSuzfXVLH
