NFL Football! It’s back! The games mean something now! More words followed by exclamation marks!
You have the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, with Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles still having to start in place of the injury-rehabbing Carson Wentz, against Dan Quinn’s Atlanta Falcons. Football is a funny ol’ game, as Foles was quite bad against the Falcons in their divisional round matchup, but Atlanta’s offense was held to just 10 points. Their final play of the season saw Julio Jones fail to come up with an end-zone catch (or stay in bounds), while Steve Sarkisian bizarrely split out fullback Derrick Coleman out wide.
Last year we saw the Kansas City Chiefs stun the New England Patriots on opening night. Will the road team sour the celebratory atmosphere once more, or will Doug Pederson’s group send Philly fans home happy on the first day of the new season?
This is your open thread to discuss the game, which starts at 5:20 PM PT on NBC.
