But even the almighty Matty Ice could not escape the inevitable curse of 2019 that has befallen nearly a dozen starting quarterbacks. Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald seems to have done some damage, not only to the Falcons offense but to Matt Ryan’s ankle.
Ryan was injured early into the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Rams and did not return. He is set to have an MRI on Monday. The lesser Matt, Matt Schaub, took over in relief for the Falcons.
Falcons’ QB Matt Ryan, who was in a walking boot after today’s loss to the Rams, is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his ankle Monday, but the team does not believe the injury is serious, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 20, 2019
We don’t know what not serious means, but it’s hard to imagine a 1-6 Falcons team doing anything that unnecessarily risks further damage to one of their two best players.
For those who may remember, Richard Sherman singlehandedly wrecked both Matt Schaub and the Houston Texans in 2013, so shell-shocked nightmares of playing Seattle might be looming if Schaub is calling the shots.
Seahawks kickoff in Atlanta at 10:00 AM on October 27th.
