You can sum it up as simply as this:
Russell Wilson's last 19 games: 42 TD, 4 INT
— Field Gulls (@FieldGulls) October 4, 2019
Or you can expand upon it. In his last 19 games, Russell Wilson has a passer rating above 118. He’s been at least as productive as Patrick Mahomes and with a supporting cast that won’t be nearly as decorated as the offensive weapons on the Chiefs.
He’s done it with Will Dissly missing nearly a full season. With Doug Baldwin retiring. Without consistently good protection from the offensive line. With a rookie number two receiver. And it started with an offensive coordinator change for the first time in his career. Under Brian Schottenheimer, Wilson has a Y/A of 8.3, a passer rating of 115, and 15 games with a rating over 100.
He’s also posted the best Week 1, Week 2, and Week 5 passer ratings of his career this season. He’s not just in the conversation with Mahomes for his stats however, Wilson is as spectacular on screen as he’s ever been and that will be a hard narrative for voters and writers and twitterers to ignore in the next three months.
I cover that and a lot more on a Seaside Reactions bonus Friday episode that focuses specifically on the historic and present achievements of Russell Wilson. Seaside Reactions is available on Patreon to supporters at the $2/month and up level. That means less than .50 cents per podcast episode. You can add the RSS feed to your iTunes to get the show directly downloaded every time it comes out. And you can win cool prizes!
