Seaside Reactions: Russ’s sneaky plan to shake the SF kicker’s confidence and more

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Wow. Wow. Wow. What a football game. It hurt, it was painful, it was blissful, it was ugly, and it was beautiful. I may not marry the method, but I’ll sleep with the result.

The Seahawks and 49ers are two of the best teams in the NFL and this week on Monday Night Football they did put on a show worthy of the hype of a 8-0 team hosting a 7-2 division rival. And that second -- Seattle’s going into this game -- record matters so much more than many people were giving them credit for it. The Seahawks are in competition to be the number one seed in the NFC for one simple reason: this is not their first close, ugly win.

So what.

In this episode of Seaside Reactions, I go long for what deserved a long episode. I talk about why the 7-2 record mattered so much, how frustrating it can be to be on Twitter in the first half of a Seahawks game despite how consistently Pete Carroll ends up being a second half coach (both in games and in the season), speak on all the things that have gone against Seattle during the first 10 games and why Carroll should be a prime Coach of the Year candidate because of it, Russell Wilson’s savvy plan to throw an interception in order to throw off the confidence of San Francisco’s kicker, talk about Jadeveon Clowney’s best game as a Seahawks pass rusher, the improvement of Jarran Reed as he works his way back into the defense, DK Metcalf’s potential for a 1,000-yard rookie season with Tyler Lockett potentially on the mend, Josh Gordon’s Seattle debut, the fact that Jimmy Garoppolo is bad, the offensive line woes, overreactions, under-throws, overtime, and Jason Frickin’ Kickin’ Myers. Plus more!
