The Seattle Seahawks (8-2) are back from the bye week and once again on the road, this time across the country against the Philadelphia Eagles (5-5), a team desperately trying to keep close with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East race, as a wild card spot is looking unlikely for them.
Seattle has lived on the edge, winning nearly every game by a razor-thin margin. When we last saw them in action, they rallied from a 10-0 deficit, blew a 21-10 lead, but then won 27-24 in overtime against the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers. All of the close game success has put the Seahawks in excellent position to once again make the playoffs under Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson.
For the Eagles, they were considered NFC contenders at the start of the season, but inconsistent play and serious injuries to both the offense and defense have left them, perhaps fittingly, at .500. They’re coming off a lackluster loss to the New England Patriots, in which they raced out to a 10-0 lead and didn’t score again. Carson Wentz has struggled, the receivers have been unable to consistently catch passes, and the offensive line is banged up. Defensively, they have improved in the secondary but they’ve also not played a really strong passing offense since their defeat to the Dallas Cowboys.
This was due to be a Sunday Night Football game before it was flexed out for Packers-49ers. It’s still a major matchup with playoff implications for both, whether at 10 AM or 5 PM.
