Monday Night Football hasn’t had the strongest of games this year, but they have a huge one coming up in the form of the Seattle Seahawks (7-2) and the undefeated San Francisco 49ers (8-0). These two fierce divisional rivals are vying for NFC West supremacy, and the 49ers are the league’s last unbeaten time, which few could’ve expected to see this late into the season.
If old Seahawks-49ers games of the Pete Carroll were about defense vs. defense, this one is offense vs. defense. The Seahawks pass offense is the best in the NFL and led by the outstanding play of MVP candidate Russell Wilson and wide receiver Tyler Lockett. As for the defense? It’s not been good. Meanwhile, San Francisco has a tremendous rushing attack led by Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida, but their strength is their defense, which is #1 against the pass. Former Seahawks CB Richard Sherman has once again found himself playing for an elite defense, although certainly not the one Seahawks fans wanted to see.
San Francisco hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2013 season, which is coincidentally the year the Seahawks won the Super Bowl and eliminated the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. Kyle Shanahan has this team clicking on all cylinders, but the Seahawks are 4-0 on the road and the second-half of the season is when they usually excel.
