On Monday, the Seattle Seahawks face the San Francisco 49ers for the first time this season. To preview the prime time matchup on Monday, former 49ers cornerback Eric Davis joined the Field Gulls podcast.
In response to former teammate Jerry Rice predicting a Super Bowl victory for the 49ers this year, Davis offers his thoughts on picking a Super Bowl winner at the midpoint of the season. Also, if you think 49ers fans don’t like it when Seahawks fans bring up the fact the Rice played more recently for Seattle, his former teammates may even be more bothered by it.
Davis talks about what made Pete Carroll one of his favorite coaches of his career, Carroll was the defensive coordinator for the 49ers in 1995 when he earned All-Pro honors. He also talks about what he has seen out of his former defensive teammate Ken Norton Jr. as defensive coordinator this season.
On his Wednesday episode of the Bleav in 49ers podcast , Davis picked Russell Wilson as his NFL MVP at the midpoint of the season. We talk about why he has Davis’ vote and the progress he’s seen from Wilson over his career. Lastly, with a lot of talent on the defensive side of the football, who does Russell have to worry about most when it comes to the San Francisco 49ers defense on Monday night?
