After a dismal loss on the road last Sunday at the Los Angeles Rams, the Seattle Seahawks (10-3) close out their 2019 regular season road schedule against a familiar foe, the Carolina Panthers (5-8). While Seattle is in search of the #1 seed, the Panthers are already mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
The Seahawks were riding a five-game winning streak prior to the Rams loss, which knocked them out of the top spot in the NFC West. Seattle’s passing offense has had some noticeable struggles over the past month, with Russell Wilson in a relative slump by his standards. Poor offensive line play and turnovers have also not helped matters, and now they’ll be without back up RB Rashaad Penny, lost for the season after he tore his ACL.
Carolina has been without Cam Newton since Week 3, and they won’t have him for the rest of the year. Kyle Allen has unsurprisingly not been up to the task after a good start to the season, and the Panthers run defense is one of the major reasons that Ron Rivera is no longer Carolina’s head coach. They do still have a ferocious pass rush, as well as Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore leading the way on offense.
