Russell Wilson may not win the MVP this year, but he’s received the second most fan votes for the Pro Bowl.
With 539,768 votes, Wilson is the most popular NFC quarterback and second among all players to Lamar Jackson.
Per Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks are faring well at the top of the charts.
The votes are in, and #Ravens QB Lamar Jackson led all players with 704,699 fan votes for the 2020 Pro Bowl. One part of the equation. Here is a position-by-position breakdown of the votes pic.twitter.com/gXVvF6QmSE— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 16, 2019
Bobby Wagner is the top linebacker receiving votes, and Michael Dickson is the number one punter.
Reminder, these are fan votes, which make up one third of the election process. Coaches and players are the other two components.
Many believe that Chris Carson will also receive his first official Pro Bowl nod, after being an alternate last season. He’s currently 4th in the NFL in yards, ahead of Ezekiel Elliott, Josh Jacobs and votes-leader Dalvin Cook.
Offensively, that could be it. Tyler Lockett is having an awesome season for the team but picked a terrible time to have a three game compartment syndrome flu-induced slump.
There are some defensive probables, at least as alternates, but it is the belief of this author that none of this matters as the Seahawks will be passing on all of their invites in order to take on the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl.
The Pro Bowl roster will be announced tomorrow night at 5pm PST.
