It’s game day Monday, Seahawks fans and Seattle is set to host the Minnesota Vikings tonight at 5:25 PM or so. One player they won’t be hosting though is star receiver Adam Thielen, who will miss his third straight game with a hamstring injury.

Thielen had caught 204 of 295 targets for 2,649 yards and 13 touchdowns over the previous two seasons, an astounding amount of production for a former undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State. The 29-year-old opened 2018 with eight straight 100-yard games but his current season wasn’t quite at that level.

Thielen had just 179 yards total over the first four games before breaking out with seven catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the New York Giants. Two weeks later he injured his hamstring early in a game against the Detroit Lions, playing just nine snaps, then missing the following week’s game against Washington. He returned vs the Kansas City Chiefs, but for only seven snaps, and the Vikings lost 26-23.

The majority of snaps went to Bisi Johnson, who caught one of two targets for four yards, which was a touchdown. Johnson started each of the last two games in place of Thielen, but has caught just eight of 13 targets for 60 yards. Thielen was hoping to return after Minnesota’s recent bye, but that won’t be the case.

The other receiving option is former first round pick Laquon Treadwell. When people say that “Well, a prospect was once projected to be a top-five pick” as if it’s a good thing, Treadwell is a case of how it’s often not. Treadwell is in his fourth season, with his biggest accomplishment perhaps being hanging onto the roster despite a lack of first round production.

This year he’s caught six of nine targets for 84 yards. He has one career touchdown on 62 catches and 100 targets.

Despite the lack of Thielen, quarterback Kirk Cousins is having a career-year with 21 touchdowns and three interceptions. The Vikings are 3-0 when Theilen is ruled out this year, though they did lose to KC when he left early. The Seahawks have one less receiver to worry about tonight, but not one less Cousins, Stefon Diggs, or Dalvin Cook. Tight end Kyle Rudolph also has five touchdown receptions.

Update: Minnesota added Alexander Hollins to the 53.
