The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers face off in final game of the NFL season, and it will be for the NFC West title. Oscar Aparicio of Niners Nation and the Better Rivals Podcast joins the Field Gulls Podcast to talk about the pressure Jimmy Garoppolo will face for his first game under center at CenturyLink Field.
Considering Garoppolo will be playing for both an NFC West title and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, there are questions of how the young quarterback will handle that type of pressure. In our discussion, Oscar points to the type of games the 49ers quarterback has played coming down the stretch, including his best performance of the year versus the New Orleans Saints.
And for his next trick, he’ll grow an extra hamstring and graft it on to Dee Ford. https://t.co/VojyB3pmjn— Oscar Aparicio (@BetterRivals) December 23, 2019
Dee Ford may be the only impact player sitting out this game. However, the 49ers have given up an average of more than 31 points per game over the last four weeks. Last week, San Francisco struggled early against the Rams, and Oscar talks about how the defense adjusted to rattle Jared Goff late in the game and how it could apply to Russell Wilson and the Seattle offense.
Perhaps the biggest change since the Week 10 matchup is that George Kittle, Garoppolo’s favorite target this season, will be on the field. Considering injuries over the past two seasons, it will be the first time Garoppolo and Kittle will be on the field together for a game against the Seahawks. Oscar points to the Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens as the two teams who had the most success against Kittle by using a mix of athletic linebackers and safety help to try and slow him down.
