Much of December has been bleak and dreary for fans of the Seattle Seahawks. First, there was the 28-12 drubbing at the hands of the division rival Los Angeles Rams. Then came a rash of injuries, including to Mychal Kendricks, Duane Brown, Jadeveon Clowney, Quandre Diggs, Shaquill Griffin and even Bobby Wagner, all of which contributed to a 27-13 embarrassment at home to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16.

However, with the NFC West title and a potential first round bye in the playoffs at stake in Week 17, the Seahawks are set to see a handful of injured defensive starters return to the field to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

As unfortunate as it is that the team will be without Brown, and more than likely be without Diggs, it’s a welcome sign that Clowney, Griffin and Kendricks are not listed on the injury report with a designation. That means they are all slated to play in a game that is for all the marbles in the NFC West.

Ethan Pocic being back on the injury report is not a welcome sign for the team’s depth on the offensive line, but with as poor as things looked last week, it might not be a surprise to see things shaken up up front. The most pressing questions may be whether Jamarco Jones will again be given the start at left tackle and how well Mike Iupati can play in returning from the injury that forced him out of the Week 16 game against the Cards.

It’s the final regular season game of the 2019 NFL season, and there will be plenty at stake when the two teams face off. So, there’s no holding back and everyone who can play, seems likely to give it all they can.
