The injury report for the Seattle Seahawks’ Sunday Night Football showdown with the Los Angeles Rams is pretty light, but one defensive starter of note is unlikely to play tomorrow evening.
Linebacker Mychal Kendricks is doubtful with a hamstring injury, having not practiced all week long. It’s safe to say he’s out, in which case rookie Cody Barton would get the start in his place. Barton has had just 18 defensive snaps all season, with 11 of them coming last week against the Minnesota Vikings in place of KJ Wright.
Pete Carroll spoke to media on Friday and indicated that we could see more nickel looks against the Rams offense if Kendricks is out. Seattle has been strongly committed to playing in its base defense, especially since the nickel corner spot was a clear weak spot with Jamar Taylor starting. Rookie Ugo Amadi was supposed to be Taylor’s replacement, but the more experienced Akeem King has been the one getting looks as an extra DB.
In other news, Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah should both be good to go despite being listed as questionable. Neiko Thorpe has been ruled out but he’s going to be on IR, so his season is over anyway. Luke Willson and Nick Bellore are both expected to miss Sunday night with their respective injuries, while everyone else is good to go.
