Who’s ready for more contract news on April 15th that does not involve Russell Wilson?
The Seattle Seahawks’ offseason workout program began on Monday, and with it came the official transactions concerning a host of players signing their tenders.
We already reported about defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson signing his original-round tender as a restricted free agent. He’ll be on a one-year deal worth $2.025 million. The same can now be said for fellow RFA and popular offensive tackle/tight end George Fant (who had a second-round tender of $3.095 million), as well as nine Exclusive Rights Free Agents. Those ERFAs are:
Austin Calitro, LB
Emmanuel Ellerbee, LB
Joey Hunt, C
Branden Jackson, DE
Shalom Luani, FS
JD McKissic, WR/RB
Tyler Ott, LS
Kalan Reed, DB
Jordan Simmons, G
Calitro saw some playing time in the absence of K.J. Wright, Ellerbee scarcely played on special teams and was in and out of the practice squad, Hunt started one game when Justin Britt suffered an early season injury, Jackson was pass-rushing depth who appeared in nine games last year, Luani played almost exclusively on special teams, McKissic missed much of the season due to a foot injury, Ott is the team’s long snapper, Reed was promoted from the practice squad midseason but has yet to play a down as a Seahawk, and Simmons had three starts in D.J. Fluker’s absence.
What do the ERFAs, Fant, Jefferson, and Russell Wilson all have in common? They’re under contract through the 2019 season.
