2019 NFL Draft: Seahawks add LB Cody Barton after moving up in third round

The Seattle Seahawks have moved up and down in the 2019 NFL Draft. First they traded down three times in order to go from five picks to ten, before swapping directions and packaging two picks to move back into the second round and select wide receiver D.K. Metcalf out of Ole Miss. The selection of Metcalf comes after the team had already added safety Marquis Blair from Utah earlier in the second round, and after defensive end L.J. Collier from TCU was selected late in the first round.

Then, rather than stand pat at 92 in the third round, Pete Carroll and John Schneider moved up four spots in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings to pick 88 where they selected linebacker Cody Barton out of Utah.

Barton joins a deep linebacker room that already includes Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks, as well as youngsters Shaquem Griffin and Austin Calitro.
