The Seattle Seahawks woke up on Monday morning holding only four picks in the 2019 NFL draft, but already through the first two days the team has added four players to the roster. Those four additions are:
- DE L.J. Collier of TCU,
- S Marquise Blair of Utah,
- WR D.K. Metcalf of Ole Miss and
- LB Cody Barton of Utah.
There’s obviously a focus on defense for the team through its first four picks, but the team has an opportunity to shift its focus on Saturday when the fourth round arrives. The Hawks first selection on Day 3 will be the twelfth selection in round four, and once they make that pick they will be on the clock four times from pick 114 to pick 142.
That is a lot of opportunity to add upside and potential to the roster in a sweet spot in the draft. Obviously, the expectations for fourth and fifth round picks are far lower than for players taken earlier in the draft, however, with four picks in a short period of time, it will certainly be interesting to see what the areas of focus are for the team.
The team has a similar bunching of picks in the fifth round in 2018 when it picked four times between pick 141 and 168, and in that string of picks it found All Pro punter Michael Dickson and starting cornerback Tre Flowers. Now it’s time to see if the Seahawks will be able to find similar success again on Day 3 this year.
The Seahawks picks for Saturday as of writing (since they’re obviously subject to change) are:
- 4.114
- 4.124
- 4.132
- 5.142
- 6.209
Now it’s time to sit back and see what needs the front office addresses with this bevy of picks.
