Tuesday was the second day of OTAs for the Seattle Seahawks, and following practice Pete Carroll met with the media and gave updates on multiple members of the team who had offseason surgeries. Those included running back Chris Carson, defensive tackle Jarran Reed and safeties Bradley McDougald and Delano Hill. Those four are all expected to be recuperated and ready before the start of training camp in July, and so the attention turns to the team’s recent free agent acquisition who had late season surgery, defensive end Ziggy Ansah.
Carroll said Ziggy Ansah “has a chance” to be ready for the start of the season but that they won’t know really where he’s at until training camp gets going.

So, the Seahawks will have to wait and see where his shoulder is when training camp opens in a couple of months. Now, I don’t mean to sound alarmist or read too much into it, but coach Carroll is pretty much the most optimistic person on the planet. Thus, to me fact that he only gave Ansah “a chance” to be ready for Week 1 kind of sets off alarm bells. Now, that could obviously simply be reading too much into things that aren’t really there, but between Carroll’s history of optimism and his answer on Ansah’s chances to play Week 1, I’m going to go ahead and put myself in the doubtful category.
