Just a few short hours after Mike Daniels’ surprising release from the Packers, and this foreshadowing from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo...
Heard they’re going in a different direction. Stay tuned.

... the Seahawks have made their addition, signing veteran defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, per Garafolo.
#Seahawks are signing veteran DT Earl Mitchell, source says. He stays in the NFC West after starting the last two years for the #49ers. With Jarran Reed suspended six games, Mitchell can play a big role early.

As Garafolo mentions, Mitchell, if not at the level of Daniels, will be able to fill a need for Seattle through their first six games and Jarran Reed’s suspension. During Mitchell’s two seasons with the 49ers, he started 28 of 32 games. On the market since the end of the season, Mitchell visited the Seahawks earlier in free agency but left without a deal.
With training camp just a day away, Mitchell will join a DT group consisting of Reed, Poona Ford, Demarcus Christmas, Al Woods, Jamie Meder, Bryan Mone and Jay-Tee Tiuli. Reed will be available to Seattle up until Week 1, at which point his six-game suspension will begin.
