Enemy Reaction: Seahawks Year in Review - 2013

Super Bowl XLVIII - Seattle Seahawks v Denver Broncos

2019 represents the tenth year of the Enemy Reaction series. It was initially titled “What The Losers Are Saying” back in 2009, then “The Morning Aftermath” in 2010, and the current title and format you’ve come to know and love was spawned in 2011.

So to commemorate this momentous occasion, over the next two weeks there will be a series of Enemy Reaction “year in review” specials that chronicle the entirety of the Pete Carroll era. We are going to skip the Jim Mora season because... well, I’m calling the shots, and I don’t want to relive that garbage.

Each year will have one (and only one) highlight from every game, with the corresponding game thread reactions. Unlike other Enemy Reactions, I am including the losses, so this is as comprehensive as it gets.

The year is 2013. Expectations are high after a tremendous end to the 2012 season. Add in Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, and Percy Harvin, and the Seahawks are significant Super Bowl favorites.

Then they actually won the damn thing, and it was glorious. The NFL witnessed one of the greatest defenses in league history historically rampage through the season and hold one of the greatest offenses of all-time to eight measly points.

W 12-7 at Carolina Panthers - The Panthers are simply Kearse’d

W 34-22 at Arizona Cardinals - Sidney Rice’s final touchdown

W 14-9 at St. Louis Rams - Disaster averted

W 27-24 (OT) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Disaster averted again

W 33-10 at Atlanta Falcons - Look ma, one hand!

W 41-20 vs. Minnesota Vikings - Pick-six Ponder

W 34-7 vs. New Orleans Saints - Monday Night Mauling

L 19-17 at San Francisco 49ers - Gored again

W 23-0 at New York Giants - Beasting in the East

L 17-10 vs. Arizona Cardinals - An incomplete interception

W 27-9 vs. St. Louis Rams - A sign of things to come for Malcolm Smith

W 23-15 vs. New Orleans Saints - Marshawn marches on the Saints again

W 23-17 vs. San Francisco 49ers - The Tip

W 43-8 vs. Denver Broncos - Super Bowl champions

Yeah I know I broke my own rule about one highlight per game, but I couldn’t do that for the freaking Super Bowl, could I?

Check back in on Friday, August 30th for the 2014 season. That should uh.... hmm... I have some thinking to do about that ending.

Thanks for reading and go ‘Hawks!
