It’s been a long offseason of the Seattle Seahawks looking for pass rush, and with Ziggy Ansah yet to set foot on the field and L.J. Collier having missed the entire preseason, things were starting to look grim for the team. However, according to reports on Saturday morning, that might be changing in a heartbeat with reports that the Hawks have agreed to make a major acquisition in the pass rush department.
Scoopage: SEA & HOU have agreed to trade parameters re: Jadeveon Clowney contingent upon Clowney & other players involved passing physicals. Still lot of moving parts but believed Clowney, who rejected going to Miami at first, is headed for his physical with Hawks. @NFLONFOX

The “passing of physicals” part of the tweet could be in reference to any of a number of things. There was, of course, the failed physical debacle that saw Jeremy Lane initially shipped to the Houston Texans as part of the Duane Brown trade, only for him to be sent back by the Texans medical staff with a failed physical.

Alternatively, it could be in reference to one of the players involved in the trade. The Texans have been looking for a tackle to add to the roster ever since mid-2017 when they shipped their holdout franchise left tackle Duane Brown, to the Seahawks. If Seattle is making George Fant, or any of the other team’s tackles who have missed preseason games due to injury, it would be completely understandable for the Texans to want to inspect Fant’s high ankle sprain themselves before agreeing to the trade.
In any case, things are not final, and everything could change in a heartbeat, so be sure to keep tuned to Field Gulls for both the latest news on this, as well as updates on roster cuts as the team trims down to 53.

This is a developing situation, and we will keep you posted as the situation evolves.
Update 3:
Per Ian Rapoport, the terms of the trade are indeed Jadeveon Clowney heading to Seattle in exchange for a third round pick, Jacob Martin and Barkevious Mingo.

This, if accurate, is a phenomenal deal for the Seahawks and is an absolutely amazing way for the team to bolster its pass rush for very, very little in return.
