Twitter reacts to Seahawks stealing Jadeveon Clowney from Texans

Saturday was slated to be a busy news day in the NFL with all 32 teams required to get down to 53 players after having had the ability to carry 90 on the roster since the new league year started in March. Thus, with fans across the country tuned in to hear news of who their team was keeping and who their team was cutting, Twitter servers buckled under the load of activity when reports of a Jadeveon Clowney trade hit.

Initial reports had the Seattle Seahawks deep into trade talks with the Houston Texans on a deal for Clowney. Then reports hit that it would be Clowney to Seattle for multiple players and a third round pick. That was followed by reports that the players were defensive players. Which quickly gave way to the two players being linebackers.

Then, finally, multiple NFL insiders reported that the Seahawks were getting Clowney in exchange for a third round pick, Barkevious Mingo and Jacob Martin and Twitter almost exploded in disbelief. Mingo was expected by many to be cut on Saturday, as the Hawks had significant depth at the linebacker position and Mingo had failed to develop as a pass rusher as the team had hoped. Martin, while having upside and promise, remained a rotational pass rusher who, while he flashed during preseason, is still young and has plenty of room to improve.

Thus, the deal is an absolute steal, and it seems as though many fans, pundits and observers realize it.

So, roster cuts for the Seahawks will be the second biggest news story of the day for Seattle fans.
