Ferguson received a lot of attention as having the potential to be the latest UDFA “hidden gem” to make the 53-man roster. He impressed in his preseason debut by catching a touchdown pass from Paxton Lynch, and in the preseason finale against the Oakland Raiders he hauled in a long ball over veteran cornerback Nevin Lawson. Of course, as we know all too well with Kasen Williams, preseason games are far from the biggest factor in determining who makes the cut and who doesn’t.
As for the newest PS signing, the 6’2” Colbert played free safety for the 49ers from 2017-2018, playing in 21 games and starting 12 during that span. He was credited with six passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. The former University of Miami player was cut by San Francisco was waived with an injury settlement on September 6th.
