The Seattle Seahawks (2-1) suffered a shock loss last week at home, but they can close out September on a high note with a road win against the Arizona Cardinals (0-2-1).
After a lackluster showing against the New Orleans Saints, there is some cause for concern given the Seahawks’ usual slow September start has come against a fairly easy schedule. They’ve played two winless teams to a +3 point differential, and lost to a Drew Brees-less New Orleans Saints squad at home. Given the Los Angeles Rams are up next the following Thursday, there is some element of “must-win” to this game, and we could do with an impressive performance for a change.
One of the storylines for this game is the hard-nosed, smashmouth style of football that Pete Carroll loves going up against the Air-Raid offense of new Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury. This is rookie QB Kyler Murray’s first showdown against a divisional opponent, and I’m sure the Wilson vs. Murray angle will be of interest to some. Arizona is still looking for win number one, while the Seahawks are looking to extend their unbeaten run at Glendale to seven seasons. Of course... we know this stadium is a cursed one, so hopefully it’s an injury-free day at the office.
