Football is back!
A brand new year of Seattle Seahawks football is upon us, as they open their 2019 NFL regular season campaign against the Cincinnati Bengals. Seattle has not lost a home opener since 2008 and are 9.5 point favorites against a Bengals team that figures to be one of the worst in the league on paper.
We should see the Seahawks debuts of (among other notable players) rookie WR D.K. Metcalf and new acquisition Jadeveon Clowney, who figures to pair up with Ezekiel Ansah to create a fearsome pass rush. They will go up against a Bengals team that is missing starting left tackle Cordy Glenn, and just generally have a makeshift offensive line. Of course, Cincinnati’s defense still boasts the likes of Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap, so the Seahawks OL has to do its job.
The Bengals are one of only two teams that Russell Wilson has never beaten in his time as Seahawks QB, and the only team that Pete Carroll has never beaten as an NFL head coach. They’ll be looking to send Andy Dalton and new head coach Zac Taylor back to Cincy with an 0-1 record.
