As we’ve known for a few weeks, Jadeveon Clowney has been playing through a core injury that has required surgery. As far back as November, Clowney made the decision to play through the injury to support his team’s playoff hopes.
He’s now made it known that the surgery will happen as soon as possible, and then added an interesting little tidbit at the end:
Jadeveon Clowney said he expects to have surgery in the next couple of days to fix his core injury.

Then he hopes to sign with a contender. The chance to win a ring will be pivotal in his decision as a free agent.
Clowney boldly declared his decision to win this summer, and it’s part of what brought him to Seattle in the first place.
He played admirably - though inconsistently at times, through injury towards season’s end. Despite all that, he was unquestionably the best defensive player on the field in multiple games, and the best overall player in the win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Clowney was once again a force to be reckoned with in the season-ending loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional round. He tied Seattle’s lead for tackles, split a sack, had a tackle for a loss, and two quarterback hits. He continues to be one of the best defenders against the run and without him the Seattle Seahawks would have given up 900 yards per game been a lot worse than they already were.
But what qualifies as a contender? It’s clear Clowney cares about winning playoff games, and one wonders if Seattle will be able to convince him that they have what it takes to improve the defense next season and get Will Dissly some sort of bubble suit armor protection. If they do both of those things exactly as described, the Seahawks could easily be one of the NFC favorites heading into next season.
They’ve got the cap space to do it.
They’ve got the relational capital and team atmosphere that might work.
However, They’ve not made it beyond one playoff win since the 2014 season.
So, the question remains....
Is Jadeveon Clowney a member of the Seattle Seahawks next season?
